It’s out with the old and in with the new here at Ventura Homes! Well, kind of. While we always tend to design for a more classic and timeless look, we also love to incorporate what’s happening in the world of design around us. Naturally, the mixture of the two in our homes turns into something truly special. Take a look at some of my personal favorites for the upcoming year and expect to see them pop up in some of our designs!
Bold Marble-Look & Patterned Tiles
I think it’s pretty safe to say that Ventura is ahead of the game on this one. Bold tile is something we have never been afraid of, and we won’t stop now! Full steam ahead in 2019!
Neutrals are nice and white is alright, but let’s talk about COLOR. Colored Cabinets are coming in hot in 2019 – and good thing, too, because I LOVE to tie my interior and exteriors together by painting the lower cabinets the same color as the front door.
2019 Colors of the year:
Rich jewel tones
Warmer, darker counter tops
Speaking of eye-catching cabinetry, why not top it off with a dark counter top? (See what I did there?). I’m glad this is ‘trending’ because I love applying this scheme to the perimeter cabinets to give the island a nice popping contrast.
They say trend, we say timeless. Open shelving has had a long history in interior design. Continuous cabinetry didn’t appear until the 1920’s, so we’re guessing open shelving has been all the rage for a VERY long time. We don’t expect this trend to go out of style any time soon.
That’s right! In 2019, we’re all about the bold, provocative designs that give us the feeling of a high-end, glamorous living experience. The small space really allows you to make a statement without your design being overwhelming. I really can’t wait to dive more into this one!
Light wood floors
We’ve been down the dark stain road for TOO long. Its time for a switch up. The other day the girls and I were looking for new flooring to stock up on for our upcoming homes and we could not get enough of the lighter, more natural wood-look flooring. Lighter wood shades like birch, beachy pine and ashy oak reflect light better and give your home a more open and airier feel. So, FULLY expect to see more of this in 2019.s
Use of wood
Vent hoods, mantels, beams, butcher-block counter tops, accent walls, tub-surrounds, barn doors – you name it! We love using wood to soften up an otherwise contemporary design and bring warmth and life into your space.
This trend goes hand-in-hand with pulling wood and other raw materials into your space.
Big Statements in small places
Small spaces like guest baths and fire places prove to be excellent canvases to make a statement in your home. We love to use bold tiles, fun mirrors or a splash of color to make these spaces sing.
Art Deco influence
I’ve been seeing Art Deco slowly creep back up on us for the past few years and I’m definitely feeling this revival! Interior accents like lighting, mirrors, cabinetry and even floor patterns can take your space from good to gorgeous in a snap. This trend is exactly what an otherwise traditional or contemporary home needs and I’m here. for. it.
Mixed metal accents
Timelessly and tastefully create balance and definition in your space by mixing metals. This trend is SO important to me that I actually wrote an entire blog about it a few weeks back. Click here if you missed it!
