Hi friends and Happy New Year!! It’s a new year and a new decade which means a fresh start. Not just for burning off all of those holiday calories but it’s also a great time to look at what new trends will be coming with the New Year!!

NEUTRALS

Neutral colors will be in once again this upcoming year. Neutrals come in pretty classic and calm shades and most importantly, they aren’t super busy. If you’re thinking, “Big whoop, neutrals are so plain,” then you’re wrong for several reasons. Neutral colors are whites with cool or warm undertones. Neutrals are the best pairing to go with anything you want. I mean just look at these neutrals paired with a pop of color!!

BLACK HARDWARE

While brass hardware was really huge in 2019, I think we will be seeing a lot more black hardware in 2020. Black hardware is by far my favorite trend. There is just something about black hardware that makes your home look modern, cool, and clean. I would always choose black hardware when designing a home, it is an accent you won’t regret!

POPS OF COLOR

Yes, we all love neutrals but pops of color are still going to be a huge interior design trend of 2020. We will be seeing color popping up in bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchens – no room is off limits! Pops of color can be incorporated on the front door, island, cabinets, or anywhere you can imagine!

MINIMALIST STYLE

The minimalist style is trending in 2020 and for good reason. Check out this house! Some people see minimalism as cold and uncomfortable, but it doesn’t have to be. The style can be clean, simple, and elegant. The most common thing people do is over-decorate and clutter space. You don’t have to put away every decoration you own but just keep in mind that a little decor goes a long way. Stuffing a room full of furniture and decor is not always the best idea. Try to use less and keep your decorating simple. Show off your fabulous home like we did here.

NOT-WHITE CABINETS

Clean white cabinets have dominated all the popular Pinterest boards for years but this trend is starting to fall out. In 2020 be on the lookout for dark, earthy-toned and natural wood colored cabinet finishes with neutral paints, like grey and beige.

EARTH TONES

The colors and textures of earth tones, like rich forest greens, taupe, and clay colors, create a natural look that creates a zen-like environment made for meditation and unwinding after a long day. I mean who wouldn’t want unwind in a Ventura Home like this after a long day?

MIXED METALS

Metals are going to be all over the place in 2020. We’re talking silver, gold, tin, and copper. The mixed metal decor trend will also be pretty popular. Silver and brown metals will work well together, like iron and gold or bronze. Be careful not to mix more than three metals in one space, or your decor could become way too busy and overwhelming for one room. We find the right balance when mixing metals.

UNIQUE CEILING DESIGNS

Long gone are the days when a basic sheetrock ceiling was good enough, or worse yet – a popcorn ceiling….gasp. We have always paid attention to ceiling detail but in 2020 expect to see more vaulted ceilings, shiplap, exposed wood beams, tray ceilings and other unique ceiling designs when looking at your next Ventura home.
