Thanksgiving is right around the corner. As we get back into the idea of The Gathering Place, let’s talk about dining rooms for this holiday season. Open concept plans and cozier family spaces continue to be so popular, so these days the dining is really an extension of the kitchen. This becomes especially true during the holidays as friends and families come together to celebrate. Today, we will look at several aspects that help to create the perfect dining area within your home.
Open Concept Dining or Separate Dining Room

Whether your dining room is an extension of the kitchen or a separate space both can be used to entertain during the holidays. As family and friends gather, the kitchen and dining room create the perfect atmosphere for everyone to come together. Sharing a meal is a simple act, but it can mean so much as stories are shared and the sound of laughter fills the room.

The Perfect Table

The perfect table is one that fits your needs whether you need to sit 4 or 12. Adding a leaf to change the size of the table is perfect for special occasions. This allows the main dining table to fit as many people as needed and the opportunity to have the kitchen island available for the “kids table.”

Decorating

Whether you are minimalistic or over-the-top, your table setting can reflect your home and your style. The holidays are the perfect time to break out your fun dishes and spruce up your table. Pick a color palette that fits the aesthetic of your home and you are ready to go. Check out a few of my favorite ways to decorate your table for the holidays.

Centerpiece Accessories

My personal favorite way to decorate the center of the table is starting with a neutral base such as white dishes and adding hints of color. Layering short and tall elements gives the table depth and leaves the perfect amount of space to add dishes and platters to the table. Another one of my favorite things to add to a holiday table are cute place cards so that everyone has their seat at the table with a personal element to take home.

The dining area and the kitchen become a special place within the home during the holidays. Grab your family and friends, enjoy a fantastic meal together and celebrate each other this holiday season.
