It’s been a while since we’ve talked lighting, so allow me to brighten your day with a few dreamy trends that will follow us throughout this new year. One thing we’re adamant about at Ventura Homes is that the lighting in each home flows with the overall style and is on par with our design standards. I love that this year brings us a culmination of all the best in lighting styles, basically since electricity was invented (Edison bulbs, amirite?). Go ahead and browse through some of my favorites (modeled in Ventura homes of the recent past) – you might just be inspired to make a little belated resolution to glow up your space with some bold lighting choices.

CLASSIC CLEAR GLASS

Clear glass fixtures are our GO-TO. With all the crisp, bright minimalist vibes trending as of late, they’re perfect for putting off plenty of cheery light while giving off that “less is more” cool factor. While you can’t go wrong with a pair of pendants over and island, switch it up and add a third for a refreshing take on a forever classic.

*NOT* CLEAR GLASS

The slightly playful cousin of our trusty clear glass fixtures, tinged glass has that extra little design oomph. While antiqued/spotty glass has taken a front seat with recent rustic styling trends, smoky and iridescent glass finishes are cropping up too, and I’m a fan. There’s something about a surprising glass finish that makes a space feel a bit more glam.

CONE PENDANTS

We’re talkin’ those lampshade-looking pendants – aren’t they cool? This style is a bold choice, but always looks luxe. This year, I hope to see more Ventura homes get to sport these, in oversized shapes and slightly different shade forms even (ahem, mushroom style?).

CLEAN LINES IN MATTE BLACK

Double whammy – matte black is once again the most opted for finish, and clean lines prevail! Matte black looks so fresh and bold against the light color palettes of most Ventura homes, it’s hard not to use it in every single project. It looks extra sharp on blocky, modern fixtures. We love using fixtures like these in homes that range in style from super contemporary to classic traditional.

We know lighting is one of the most exciting elements of designing a home. A single fixture can make or break a space, so we make sure every single light is on point. We can’t wait to share with you all of the amazing lighting looks we put in each home this year!
